REPRESENTATIVES

 

ADRIAN OBREJANU, 1ST YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Adrian is currently a first-year engineering student interested by the possibilities Chemical Engineering has to offer. Having been interested in medicine since a young age, Adrian hopes to enter the Chemical Engineering department in his second year and pursue a Biomedical Engineering minor. Although overwhelmed by the amount of work in first year, Adrian continues to persevere and hopes to be of help to his colleagues through his work as a first-year representative for CESS, and hopes to continue helping those entering first year engineering in the following years. Outside of school, Adrian enjoys playing sports, including Volleyball and throwing Javelin, and watching all kinds of movies.

 

ABDUL KARIM QURESHI, 1ST YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Abdul Karim is a first-year engineering student with an interested in Chemical Engineering. His life goal is to give back to the community through innovation, which is what engineers do best. He has joined CESS as a First-year Representative hoping to bring a positive change. Activities such as student/prof mixers, visiting industrial plants, and conferences are what intrigued Abdul to be a part of CESS. His skills range from digitals arts to leading events. In his free time, you will find him still studying (unfortunately), scanning the internet for new information, playing sports, or video games.

 

GABRIELE MARCIAL, 1ST YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Gabe is in his first year in engineering with interests in going into chemical engineering. As a first-year representative, Gabe is thrilled to be part of club that allows him to help encourage and inform other first years of the amazing and boundless opportunities of being a chemical engineer can bring. Outside of school, Gabe dabbles on a little bit of gaming with his friends and consistently keeps himself active by going the gym regularly.

 

SIA CHOKSHI, 2ND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Siya is currently in her 2nd year of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. She is passionate about the application of bioprocess engineering within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. This is her first year joining CESS as a 2nd Year Representative and she is eager to contribute to the creation of a vibrant community for all students. She is excited to connect with new people and to be an advocate for enriching the undergraduate experience for her fellow chemical engineering peers. Outside of academics, she enjoys staying active through workouts/spin classes, reading books and traveling to new places.

 

NEAH CHABOYER, 2ND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Neah is currently in her second year of a dual degree program of Chemical Engineering and commerce and holds the position of 2nd Year Representative within CESS. This is her first year in CESS and is excited to help foster a supportive and welcoming environment for her fellow students. When she's not studying, you'll find her hiking, reading, cooking, watching hockey, or trying to convince Calgarians that the Oilers are better than the Flames.

 

DONNA HOUSH, 3RD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Donna is currently in her third year of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Energy and Environment and has recently taken on the role of the third-year representative at CESS. She is passionate about helping the club's growth and highlighting the fundamental aspects of chemical engineering. Beyond her academic commitments, she enjoys walks in the park, family time, and actively represents Canadian Blood Services.

 

MATTHEW BURTON, 3RD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Matthew is currently in his third year of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Energy and Environment. He is passionate about the role chemical engineers can play in preserving the environment, specifically, in the breakdown of plastics for recycling and reuse. This is Matthew's first year in CESS, and he is excited to be serving as a third-year representative. Outside of school, Matthew enjoys reading, swimming, skiing, and playing the piano.

 

JUAN CEPADA, 4TH YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Juan is currently in his final year of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. He just completed a 16-month internship as a pipe integrity project management intern at TC Energy. As 4th year rep, Juan aims to connect 4th year students to CESS events and initiatives. This is Juan's third year in CESS being the previous VP Academic in 2021-2022 and Academic Commissioner in 2020-2021. Outside of academics and CESS, Juan enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, playing volleyball, working out, trying new foods and travelling.

 

ERIK BARRET INTERNSHIP REPRESENTATIVE

Erik just finished his third year of Chemical Engineering with a minor in Energy and Environment. He is currently completing a 16-month internship with the Technology Development team at ATCO in Calgary. Erik is looking forward to his role on CESS as Internship Representative where he can help current students land their dream internship. Once graduated, Erik is looking to further Canada's energy transition by pursuing a career in carbon capture systems or nuclear energy. In his free time, Erik is a passionate long-distance runner and when he's not at work or the university you can find him running with his friends on Calgary's fine parks and trails.

 

ALEXANDRA BARRETO, INTERNSHIP REPRESENTATIVE

Alexandra is currently on her internship year as a Transmission Engineering Co-op Student at ATCO Gas. She just completed her third year of chemical engineering with a digital engineering minor. This is also her third year involved with CESS. As the one of the Internship Representatives, Alexandra hopes to share any knowledge and lessons she has learnt in her internship and do whatever she can to help incoming interns in their job search! Outside of school, Alexandra enjoys playing sports, travelling, making digital art, staying active and watching all sorts of movies and television.
